Top 12 Tips To Live A High Quality Frugal Life

As Benjamin Franklin states "Beware of little expenses; a small leak will sink a great ship". The entire quote itself is self-explanatory why we need to adapt a life of frugality. Frugality and wisdom in spending every penny earned without being a miser is truly ennobling which in turn will give us an opportunity to spend less and give more. Frugality should seldom be misconstrued as miser. So, here are the top 12 tips for you to implement through actions which has been proven to attain a great life. Read it a several times till it registers in your mind and, show your personal power through actions by implementing them:
1. Live a simple life and yet a frugal life. Always strive to live a simple and frugal life yet be highly intellectual in your thinking as this is the art of Mega Living.
2. Always opt for branded products yet buy them when there's only 50% off sale. Well this advice might sound a bit weird but remember buying unbranded means you have to buy them twice or three times as it might get worn out quickly.
For e.g. when I buy a pair of sandals, I opt for Bata, Metro or other highly branded ones from the showroom. These sandals might be expensive yet it saves in great deal of money in the long term which implies I could comfortably wear it for an year or two whereas the unbranded one might tear off in a month or less. However, there is a word of caution is that Always Buy Branded Products Only When There's a Big Sale.
3. Go for second hand items while buying a car, electronic gadget or furniture. Check out the best prices at eBay or olx or even may be through your friends circles. Remember, almost all millionaires buy a second hand car to save their money. So why can't you and I opt the same.
4. Make a buying written list weekly or monthly before rushing into the market. Whenever you are buying a list of items, go and buy those only listed items. Buying those listed items could be the most needed and when you go to the supermarket there might be a lot of things you might wish or want to have. So sticking to the list is the best option so that you buy the most needed versus most wished items.
5. Check out the deals or offers available in your city supermarkets or malls. Go shopping at the supermarkets that give you the lowest prices for high quality products. Always make use of membership cards and coupons available.
6. Opt for a solar heater if you live in a villa and save electricity. Switch off the lights when not needed. Keep your ironing of clothes for the weekend or once a week as ironing all clothes at one stretch saves in a great deal of your electricity bills.
7. Communicate well. Adapt yourself to using free communication applications software like Viber, Whatsapp, skype, Google talk etc. to save your bills on communication. Being frugal does not imply you will stop communicating to save your money but true frugal life is in effective communication using the technology effectively which is free most of the time using latest application software available at your fingertips.
8. Use the hard cash instead of online debit or credit card as much as possible. The feel and touch of the hard cash makes you realize you are spending whereas through online payments money slips away very easily. Also avoid being an impulsive buyer online. Buy them only if it is truly a necessity.
9. Read books online if the books of your choices are available online and free. Opt for buying books only when you cannot find the online version.
10. Stop buying junk food and eating out as it will cost you a lot in terms of money and health. Prepare all three meals at home as it is economical and healthy habit to stay fit. Moreover, the fast food chains and restaurant make their food very yummy and alluring by adding MSG (monosodium glutamate) which is too nasty and a great threat to your overall health.
11. Avoid packaged and frozen food. As the packaged foods are not only expensive, but contain preservatives which has a long term health impacts on you. So avoid them completely and opt for a healthy lifestyle.
12. Say NO to all those beverage drinks. Drink plenty of water instead as it will help you save your bill and also help to keep fit by burning calories. Avoid those beverages completely and opt for home made fresh juice, fresh fruits or water.

Mistakes Are Blessings in Disguise and a True Eye-Opener for Your Future Life

As George Bernard Shaw writes, "A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing".
Mistakes are something everybody makes and no man no matter how virtuous, principled or great he might seem, could cross the journey in this planet without making mistakes.
Life teaches everyone that mistakes can be expensive in your life and no man can ever travel on this planet without a learning experience of making mistakes. No matter what people label for having done so and so blunder, it is definitely a blessing in disguise provided we are cautious enough not to make that mistake again. It's only through mistakes we gain wisdom, we mature and learn to take the right steps in the future coming years thus avoid such mistakes again. So, committing mistakes implies progress and growth.
A good example of a great personality who had done 9,999 mistakes in his life before inventing the electric bulb is Thomas Alva Edison. Had he feared to make mistakes, he would have settled for a mediocre life and seldom have invented the electric bulb and thus we still might have had to go on in or life with oil lamps at night. Thomas Alva Edison was wise enough each time not to repeat the same mistake again and so went on rectifying his thinking thus finally when he invented the Electric Bulb.
So, guys don't worry about what people might think about but go ahead and discover your destiny and pursue your life focused on your goals by learning from your mistakes.
I think you would agree with me that we all have made a fair share of committing mistakes ourselves and need to take the blame for it. Though most of the mistakes might have been with the desire to please your superiors, relatives or parents or for have unwisely agreed to their decision. The other mistakes could have been made by you for being naïve, innocent and immature.
Now, the greatest lesson is to learn from the mistakes and never ever repeat. This attitude of rectifying our mental attitude and looking life in a matured way will enhance the quality of our life. We should also be grateful for getting wiser each passing day compared to others who claim to have made much fewer mistakes than you.
I finally state that mistakes are important and we must learn a lesson from each of the mistakes by ensuring that we do not repeat it again. Moreover, mistakes must be treated as a blessing in disguise just as adversities in life come as blessing in disguise for all of us.

My Review on Five MInds for the Future by Howard Gardner

In this book, Howard Gardner stresses on five minds that is fundamental for survival in the present digital era and century. As we live in a digital technological world and era, inculcating and cultivating the habits of using these minds are mandatory. The five minds in brief are:
  1. Disciplined Mind: For each one of us to successful in life, we need to focus on one or two disciplines to succeed. Or else we need to compromise doing menial tasks and to master discipline in one subject takes about 10 years. To develop this disciplined mind, one must consistently work on for long enough until he attains mastery in the discipline. In future, Gardner stresses that for each productive and successful individual, he must focus on one or two disciplines proficiently to thrive in the coming generation.
  2. Synthesizing Mind: is basically integrating one or more disciplines to take effective decisions and actions so as to succeed. Most leaders and presidents have to use this mind most of the time in their career.
  3. Creative Mind: involves thinking creatively and outside the box. This result in creative breakthrough, inventions, innovations etc. The author stresses that having creative mind alone helps you reach nowhere unless and until it is backed up by disciplined mind and synthesized mind. Or else creative mind is a total failure. Whatever one does creatively need to be practiced and mastered regularly and built into a skill in that particular discipline.
  4. Respectful Mind: is another word for tolerant mind. Cultivating respectful minds helps to celebrate the difference across opinions, view, judgments, religious views, castes, races etc. Here one needs to be respectful of each other across nations, groups and community
  5. Ethical Mind: is building of ethics, principles and moral values. Here religious values play a great role. Gardner also considers digital way of communicating especially the chat as unethical and stresses here one must be as ethical as possible with support of respectful mind.
This book is a book I would recommend to read not only for the educators but also for the people in all professions including management and leadership. The language is very easy to follow and Gardener had been very down to earth in putting his ideas across. This book is one of the best book I have ever read because I think most of us lack the five minds and we need to be sure to have these 5 minds as a means to live and thrive in the coming decades. I would personally give 5 stars to this book.
